Portugal receives 26 world travel awards

This year the World Travel Awards will be taking place on 6th October, and already the host country, Portugal, has received 26 nominations for its resorts, beaches and associated travel companies.

The Awards event will take place close to our villas in Quinta Do Lago, in the popular villa holiday region of the Algarve; which itself has received an amazing 10 nominations, including awards for its resorts and accommodation.

Portugal’s official tourism board has also been nominated for Europe’s leading Tourist Board, along with Lisbon Airport as Europe’s leading Airport category.

The nominations show just highly regarded Portugal, and in Particular its Algarve region, has become with so many votes across the board.

WOW didn’t 2011 go fast!

WOW! Didn’t Christmas and New Year go really fast? Only seems like yesterday we were putting up the office Christmas tree and panicking about if we had all the Christmas shopping done!

Oh well, like someone once said: ‘Always look on the bright side.’ So with this simple, but brilliant piece of wisdom, we will. So here goes: Now that Christmas and the New Year celebrations have passed it won’t be long until summer is here, and you know what that means don’t you? Yep, it’s holiday time ;)

Villa Parade backs Yorkshire Golfer for big things

Ever heard of Christopher John Lewis Hanson? Chris is 6tf tall, 26 years old – from Harrogate and leading the PGA Europro Tour.

It’s predicted that Chris will take the golfing world by storm over the coming years, building a name for himself, which some are predicating will elevate him to the heights of some of the world’s best known players, including the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, Tiger Woods and Adam Scott.

With a handicap of +2.8, Chris has already started to grab the attention of major sponsors following a successful track record of wins, which include:

Three times winner, Europro Tour, 24th August, 29th June and 24th August 2011

Winner of YPGA Pro-am, 8th June 2011

Winner of the Northern Pro Tour, 17th March 2011

Winner of the YPGA Classic, 21st 

September 2010

Winner of the Players tour, 31st August 2010

Chris also won the YPGA Links Trophy in April of this year.

Currently, Chris is leading the PGA Europro Tour order of merit this season, with just one event to go, and, if he wins Chris will qualify for the Challenge Tour next season, unless he wins qualifying school, in which case he will take up a place on the European Tour.

Now, you may be thinking that it seems strange for a company like Villa Parade to want to sponsor Chris – fair point!
