We all know how depressing a wet summer can be, the unpredictable conditions means you don’t know if you should carry sunglasses or an umbrella!

Although long-range forecasting remains the Holy Grail to meteorologists, some weather people are hinting future UK summers will be cooler and unsettled. Meteorologists are already suggesting that this summer will be a wash out, although I think most of us will agree we don’t need Meteorologists to tell us that.

But don’t panic, because we at Villa Parade understand how important a good summer holiday is, especially if you have children at school.

So, what can you do? You could start to condition yourself to love the rain, or, you could think ‘Villa Parade’.

Anyone for cricket?

If you’ve booked one of our Villa Parade holidays to Mallorca this year and love a great game of cricket, then you may be perfectly placed to enjoy this year’s Balearic Cup.

Mallorca Cricket Club

Teams from Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca will be taking part and with each team believing they will be lifting the trophy, this year’s Cup promises to be a great sporting contest. Certainly one for all you cricket fans out there.

This year the Balearic Cup starts on 10th May, with Mallorca Cricket Club, this year’s hosts, playing Ibiza – a game that promises to be a great spectacle to be enjoyed by cricket-lovers everywhere. Just make sure you keep your eyes open for tickets!

Kefalonia – did you know…

Located in Western Greece, Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands and is a popular choice with travellers seeking villa holidays.

With a population of 36,404, Kefalonia is one of the most popular destinations of the Ionian Islands and the biggest island of the group.

Located between Lefkada and Zakynthos, the Greek Island has many wonderful beaches with fine sand and turquoise bleach-like waters that are specific to the island. The island also has many natural attractions, including picturesque villages and a National Park, where the island’s highest mountain, Mount Ainos, can be found.

The island is full of legend and history, with its name said to come from King Kephalos. Kefalonia’s history is a feature that visitors will find themselves becoming enveloped in, with ruins and varying architecture that add to the island’s mythological charm.

“Having just got back from two weeks at Villa Provenzo, Lourdas – Kefalonia we all feel so rested. It is a beautiful spacious villa in a lovely quiet location with a choice of restaurants and mini markets within walking distance. We were a group of six including myself and my husband plus our two daughters aged 21 and 19 and their boyfriends of the same age. The villa and pool were kept immaculately clean by Maria and her husband and she was just on the other end of the phone if we had any problems (she accidentally swept up my daughters cuddly toys in the laundry,which she promptly rescued from the local laundry when we realised they were missing). I would recommend the local Greek restaurants particularly Spiros, Zorbas, La Mer and The Olive Lounge, our one foray into the English owned restaurant Lorraine’s was disappointing. We finished of some of our evenings at Muses, the cocktail bar a stones through from the villa which was very civilised.
